In May 5, 1992 ID Software lanseaza revolutionarul joc in perioada respectiva, Wolfenstein 3D, ce a deschis epoca jocurilor FPS (First Person Shooter). Titluri celebre ce au urmat: Doom, Doom 2, Duke Nuken, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc.
